SAFETY

Chassis
All cars must use a full frame meeting SFI 25-1E or 25.2 spec with current IHRA certification prior to competition (See IHRA general regulations for definitions). Funny car roll cage mandatory.

Driver restraint (Seat Belts)
SFI spec 16-1 mandatory within 2-year expiration of date of manufacture. (See general regulations page 126 IHRA rulebook)

Parachutes
Required on all vehicles. Dual chutes recommend on all vehicles reaching speeds of over 175 mph.

Window Net
Mandatory meeting the SFI-27-1 specifications (See general regulations page 129 IHRA rulebook)

Protective Clothing
A driver suit meeting SFI 3.2A/15, gloves and shoes meeting 3.3/5 and neck collar SFI 3.3

Helmet
SN 2000 or newer or SFI31.1, 31.2, 41.1, 41.2 mandatory.
Any supercharged or nitrous assisted vehicle must use a 31.2 or 41.2 full-face helmet.

Fire extinguisher system
5lb fire extinguisher systems are mandatory.
Minimum 1 nozzle on driver’s side in front of feet, 1 nozzle in front of the engine.
Safety pins must be red flagged. (See IHRA general regulations page 112 in IHRA rulebook)

Licensing
All drivers must have at least a current IHRA Top Sportsman Class B license.
NHRA, NMCA license of equal rating will be accepted.

BODY

Body
Full bodies cars only, no funny car style bodies. All vehicles must have working and accessible doors, truck, & hood.

Wheelbase & Overhang
Minimum 90” with a 1” variation from left to right. Front overhang limited to 43” from the front spindle. Vehicle with less than 43” may add 1 extension to compensate for the difference, but the extension must be approved by a GHR tech and must meet proper height requirements.

Ground Clearance
Minimum 3” from front end to 12” behind the spindle.

Diapers
All vehicles must be equipped with an IHRA approve diaper. Diapers must be pulled tight not to interfere with the timing equipment. (Any run that is suspected to be affected by a low diaper will be reviewed and possibly disallowed if incremental times detect a major difference in the vehicle’s performance.)

Brakes
Four wheel brakes mandatory on all vehicles.

Tires
10 ½” slicks or 22.5 DOT (Any Manufacturer Allowed)

Headlights & Taillights
Vehicles with factory equipped hideaway headlights may retain daylight appearance, but must have some type of working driving lights for night operation. Vehicles with non-hideaway headlights must have lights in the stock location. (No decals) Taillights must be operational during all runs at night to insure visibility in the shutdown area by track personnel.

Dashboard
All cars must have a dashboard, no open dash accepted. (No wires, backs of gauges, or relays should be visible during inspection)

Spoiler
Any spoiler allowed.

Ballast
Must be secured (Bolted on). Must be able to be added promptly during the weigh-in process in the event a vehicle is light.

Computers/Data recorders
Allowed, crewmembers cannot activate the computer from the outside after the vehicle has staged.

Batteries/Starters
All vehicles must have an onboard bolted on starter and battery. Drivers must start the vehicle from inside the car. Maximum of two batteries. Battery jump off will be allowed behind the wall only. (If a vehicle loses fire inside the wall, it must be able to start on its own. If directed by a GHR official to shutoff, the vehicle will be allowed a jump-start inside the wall one time.)

Starting line aids
Delay boxes used as starting line aids are prohibited. Delay boxes used as NOS timers is permitted, but the starting line timers must be set to 000 before entering the water box and must be available for inspection.
Electronic RPM limiters are prohibited on Supercharged entries. The use of pneumatic limiters is permitted. No aids such as optical sensors, down track studder boxes and throttle stops allowed.

Signage
Allowed at the owner's discretion. No signage or offensive language allowed or signage detrimental to Bristol Dragway.

Engine
Carburetion
No restrictions (Deduct 75 lbs for single carb setup)

Mufflers
Mandatory, no cones in collectors or baffle insert.

Exhaust
No zoomie style headers. All headers must be the 4 into 1 style collector exhaust system with mufflers. Exhaust must be directed out of the car body, rearward, and away from the driver and fuel system.

Blowers
No screw type blowers or turbos allowed.

Superchargers
Overdrive limitations: The maximum supercharger allowed will be 1471.
The maximum overdrive on any High Helix supercharged combinations with billet heads and billet blocks will be at 21%.Conventional cast blocks with billet heads or conventional heads will run at 40%.Maximum supercharge overdrive limits is 50% for standard roots. Supercharged entries 4.90 rear end ratio (Final drive maximum).Supercharged entries are limited to 4 forward gears. The maximum length from the front of the supercharger drive pulley to the leading edge of the rotor is 15 inches. Offset drive pulleys may not be used to add to the number listed above. The use of spacers, modified cases or attaching methods to move the supercharger rearward in excess of the specified amount is prohibited. A belt guard shielding both fuel and oil lines is mandatory. Electronic fuel injection, nitrous oxide, intercoolers and variable speed devices are prohibited. The maximum height of the injection system may not exceed the height of the roof. The injector scoop may not be more than 16 inches forward of the center of the front cylinder or 10 inches behind the center of rear cylinder. OEM manufacture’s supercharger case mandatory. Billet cases prohibited. The top opening may not exceed 11 inches in length and 5 inches in width.

Transmissions
No restrictions, unless mentioned earlier. Tran brake allowed. Must have a deadbeat SFI approved case. (Any racer running true automatic “OEM, Hydraulic Pressure” may deduct 50 lbs.)

Fuel
Only one power additive allowed. Gasoline or alcohol with NOS allowed. Nitro Methane prohibited. No upper lubricates allowed. Fuel checks for Nitro will be in effect in 2007.

Nitrous
Maximum of two bottles. 15 lbs. Maximum per bottle. No bottle may be turned on until after the burnout is complete. All Nitrous bottles must be within a 5 year expiration date and have the pressure rating clearly stamped on the bottle.
